finish all your nonschool chores for the next four weeks if you are starting with transplant

How was the driving and parking?

st. mary's was easy

How bad were the on call hours?

all luck (long hours when you get called in for an organ trasplant)

What were your weekday hours?

St. Mary's: lots of study time, short round in the morning. transplant: round, surgery, clinic, round, surgery, round.....sleep, next day

What were your weekend hours?

st. mary's: good, transplant: be ready to write >10 soap notes if you are on call

What should we know about the attendings and residents?

don't get personal if you get yelled at, happends to almost all of us

Did you learn any new procedures or skills?

yes, a lot of suturing in transplant

What books were useful for the shelf exam?

surgical recall was the best

How was your shelf exam?

5/10-tough but fair

Did you have enough time to study for it?

no, USE your spare time at St. Mary's

What pearls of wisdom should an incoming student ABSOLUTELY know?

learn to dissociate from it all on a bad day

How would you rate the stress level?

worse than average
