Any tips on preparing for Day 1?
The directions to orientation are horrible, just make sure you take the elevator in the tunnel and ask for directions at the desk
How was the driving and parking?
park at the med school, the security guards at Glennon are anal, they usually won't let you in even if you are on call
How bad were the on call hours?
your team is on call Q4, one student stays per call night, some residents call the student, some don't, so the amt of sleep is variable
What were your weekday hours?
get there by 6, round, attend rounds, write notes, go to lecture and then finish notes or go home (approx 2pm) on floors clinics: 8-4 or 5
What were your weekend hours?
none on clinics, one day per weekend on floors
What should we know about the attendings and residents?
most are great, they like ot teach
Did you learn any new procedures or skills?
not really
What books were useful for the shelf exam?
Appleton Lange and Blueprints Harriet Lange is helpful on floors
How was your shelf exam?

Did you have enough time to study for it?
study on clinics, you'll be busy with H&Ps on floors
What pearls of wisdom should an incoming student ABSOLUTELY know?
relax and bring a calculator
