calculator. Pocket pharm if you don't already have it. Everybody's
really nice, low stress
How was the driving and parking?

How bad were the on call hours?
Not bad. Neonate was the hardest
week, on call every 3rd night, inpatient was every fourth night, and
usually you only stay until 9 or so. Wintertime is probably worse.
What were your weekday hours?
Arrive 6:30ish to see patients,
round at 7:30, lecture at 8:30, attending rounds at 9:30, see
patients/write notes until noon lecture, 1:00pm finish up notes, follow up
on procedures, go home. Outpatient is 8-4 or so. Computer means an
afternoon off.
What were your weekend hours?
Outpatient none, inpatient till
noon if not on call
What should we know about the attendings and residents?
If
you're good to them, they're good to you. Write your notes on time, be
complete, and at the very least get the vitals and on outpatient fill in
the growth charts.
Did you learn any new procedures or skills?
Suture removal.
What books were useful for the shelf exam?
Blueprints and Lange

Yes, but I didn't use
it wisely. (alas).
What pearls of wisdom should an incoming student ABSOLUTELY know?
viruses cause most everything in kids-always a good guess.
