Any tips on preparing for Day 1?
Not really. The first day was low key.
How was the driving and parking?
Fine.
How bad were the on call hours?
Only until 9pm every fifth night and you usually weren't busy.
What were your weekday hours?
Rounds with residents and attending at 7:30am. Conference at 11:30. Exit rounds at 5pm.
What were your weekend hours?
Sat. or Sun. for rounds unless you were on call then you stayed until 9pm.
What should we know about the attendings and residents?
Dr. Burch never shuts up!!! Dr. Parks seems great. Dr. Schoen is very knowledgeble.
Did you learn any new procedures or skills?
I watched two lumber punctures and put in a nasogastric tube.
What books were useful for the shelf exam?
Pretest is great for reviewing questions the last few days of the rotation. Neuro recall is a good book to start with for some basic knowledge.
How was your shelf exam?

Did you have enough time to study for it?
Yes. There is a lot of down time during the day so bring a book to read and use the time to be productive so you don't have to study at home.
