8-4 or 5pm. Look at slides, gross specimes, attend Tumor Board and Surg-Path conferences, the occasional pediatric autopsy. (there were 2 in the month I was there.)

What_should_we_know_about_the_attendings_and_residents?

The are very cool and love having someone there to teach! (And they don't expect a whole lot out of you.)

Did_you_learn_any_new_procedures_or_skills?

Got a much better perspective on laboratory medicine and what pathologists do (and what to expect from them as a clinician.)

If you're going into peds and you want a laid-back elective with some interesting material, DO IT.

I recommend this elective because it seems to be a well-kept secret. (And I did NOT dig pathology as a 1st or 2nd year student!) The vast majority of us going into clinical medicine don't seem to spend a lot of time pondering pathology/pathologists/laboratory medicine; this elective is very enlightening, mellow, and interesting. I learned quite a bit.
