Do you wish you did it at another site?

nope

Any tips on preparing for Day 1?

Get as much sleep as possible, it is the last you will get for 6 weeks

How was the driving and parking?

Better than SLU

How bad were the on call hours?

2 weeks during Labor and Delivery sucks (12 days even on weekends)

What were your weekday hours?

During L&D=long hours and lots of births During Gyn surgery=early morning surgery and rounds then either clinics or goofing off the rest of the day (at St. Mary's)

What were your weekend hours?

only on L&D

What should we know about the attendings and residents?

For the most part very helpful

Did you learn any new procedures or skills?

delivering babies, suturing and saw many surgeries

What books were useful for the shelf exam?

I liked BluePrints b/c of the pictures, Appleton and Lange was good for exam type questions

How was your shelf exam?

6/10

Did you have enough time to study for it?

Probably, but I goofed off a lot, too. The shelf was very much like Boards, read the vingettes quickly or you won't get done.

What pearls of wisdom should an incoming student ABSOLUTELY know?

Eat as many free meals as you can

How would you rate the stress level?

tolerable

Are you now more or less interested in this specialty as a career?
